Now that it has been almost a month since the Election, I’ve heard a lot of people trying to figure out what happened. Many can’t understand why the Democrats lost so badly. Some blame Harris, others Biden, and some just the “stupidity” of the American people.

I think they are all wrong. Why the Democrats lost in 2024 is the same reason the “Red Wave” of 2022 turned into a trickle. Both campaigns ran on the platform that they we’re not the other guy. Neither gave the electorate a clear idea of what they wanted to do. Recall that in the 1994 off year election the Republicans (led by Newt Gingrich) came out with the “Contract with America” outlining their legislative plans. This resulted in the Republicans controlling congress for the first time in forty years.

Americans want a direction and a plan. Just saying I’m not him or her will almost never work. I worked a little bit in 2016 and 2020, but I don’t see it working again for a very long time.
